Chesapeake Names Shannahan and DeLoach Peake Manager, Peake Performer; Recognizes Employees for Service

Chesapeake Utilities Corporation, at its annual employee recognition event titled "Peake Party" held Saturday, January 25 at the Bay Center in Dewey Beach, named Dashiell "D.J." Shannahan, General Manager of Sharp Water in Salisbury, MD, and Fred DeLoach, Engineering Technician at Central Florida Gas, Winter Haven, FL, the Company's Peake Manager and Peake Performer of 2002 respectively. In addition, the Company recognized a number of employees for five to forty years of service.
Mr. Shannahan, a resident of Marion, MD, grew up in his family's water treatment and conditioning business, which was acquired by Chesapeake Utilities Corporation in 1998. He and his wife Cindy have two daughters.
His peers nominated Mr. Shannahan from a list of quarterly nominees. He was lauded for wholeheartedly subscribing to the Company's values, and working to instill the values in those reporting to him. He was also commended for recognizing the talents of others, and constantly rewarding people who are 'caught doing something right,' and helping to instill positive attitudes and a strong work ethic at Sharp Water.
During 2002, Mr. Shannahan took on added responsibility of helping to launch a new water treatment and conditioning operation in Severna Park, MD, as well as continuing his entrepreneurial spirit by seeking unique ways to broaden Sharp Water's outreach, such as the groundbreaking work the Company is currently doing with local poultry producers.
Fred DeLoach, who was named Peake Performer of 2002, was chosen by his peers from monthly nominees. Mr. DeLoach and his wife Cara are residents of Winter Haven, FL. He is an Engineering Technician at Central Florida Gas, also in Winter Haven.
Mr. DeLoach was commended for achieving the highest level of service, making a positive and lasting impression on co-workers and customers alike, and his strong work ethic.
"Fred works to the benefit of the Company. He takes the lead and initiative to track the progress of every project, and utilizes his engineering contacts to obtain detailed information about new projects, then relates the details to co-workers," his nomination form read. Fred was highly praised for working across departmental lines, and for volunteering his efforts on numerous projects throughout the year.
For their efforts, both Mr. Shannahan and Mr. DeLoach have received a plaque, shares of Company stock, a cash award and a special parking space at their work location for the remainder of the year.
The Company also recognized 44 employees for five through 40 years of service. Those employees have received service awards of their choice, equivalent to their years of service. The following employees were recognized:
